Sunita Nagpure an Arts graduate from SNDT University Mumbai, has
always been fascinated by PAITHANI Sarees.
She is associated with "YEOLA " the birth
place of PAITHANI eversince her birth as her ancestral home is still
there.
It was her long standing desire to give boost to
the fading culture of hand-woven sarees.
She was always aware that the weaver who toils
for days together to weave a PAITHANI on handloom hardly gets anything
in return. Whereas the middleman fetches a huge amount for the same
PAITHANI in big cities. Hence she brought together a group of weavers,
provided them with various self developed designs and directly marketed
them through various exhibitions and displays...making PAITHANI
more affordable.
At present she is having group of about 15 weavers
who work only for "NUPUR DESIGNS" to create exclusive
PAITHANI Sarees.. |
